I bought this logitech extreme 3d pro joystick for gaming on my Mac and was a bit disappointed when the box arrived and it said PC only… However, I plugged it in to my iBook and it worked just great on Battlefield 1942 even without installing any drivers (I’m using OSX). I also can use it on my PC without any problem. It comes with a drivers CD for Windows.

It improved my game 100% when flying planes in Battlefield, I would definitely recommend this to anybody who plays games in which flying is involved. It’s pretty sturdy and quite large, and very comfortable to hold, though it’s definitely for right-handed gamers only. It has a separate throttle control (a lever that you push forward or backward) that’s quite sensitive, and the handle twists left and right to control the rudder (as well as moving 360 degrees like any other joystick). There are 13 buttons so plenty of choice when mapping your controls.

Logitech Extreme Pro Joystic

Specifically, here’s what I rated it by:
* Quality of components and assembly: The action of the stick is smooth. No flimsy play in the controls. The hat switch and trigger pull have a positive feel with close tolerances.
* Comfortable handgrip: like the overall product, the design and machining of the grip is off high-quality, without any annoying seems or sharp ridges.
* Smooth throttle control: this is a small detail, but compared with some of the other models out there, it’s notable.
* Stable base that allows you to either rest it firmly on a table or in your lap.
* Subtle movements are reflected in the game.
* Overall appearance – it looks as good as it performs.
Things to NOTE:
* This is definitely a right-handed joystick.
* It plugs into a USB port
* I used it with Microsoft Flight Sim 2002 running on an XP Pro system: Installing the software that came with the joystick was effortless and when I opened Flight Sim, all of the buttons were already mapped to the appropriate functions.

3D Pro Joystic

Personally I much prefer this logitech extreme 3d pro joystick over one that comes with force feedback – the vibration works against what you’re trying to do and makes playing harder. You can’t beat this joystick for the price. After this I could never go back to just using a mouse and keyboard. Takes the gaming experience to the next level.

World of Warcraft Girls (5 Pics)

World of Warcraft didn’t invent the online role-playing genre, but it certainly benefits from the missteps of other titles that have come before. A mind-boggling array of improvements in graphics, gameplay, networking, and interface–really every category–makes this game the crown prince of the genre, a great starting place for newbies, and a challenge to any other MMORPG currently in the works.

World of WarcraftWorld of Warcraft

WoW takes place just four years after the real-time strategy Warcraft series, which chronicles a 25 year struggle between the Alliance (humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves) and the Horde (orcs, tauren, trolls, and undead). Even though there’s tons of accumulated story to the series, new players should not be daunted. The background is there for you to explore, but you don’t have to tread a lot of Azeroth history to get into the action.

World of Warcraft of Cataclysm

People play World of Warcraft for different reasons. Some people have 100 mounts or 100 pets. Some people like to have 8000 achievement points. And some people like to play the different races. The new races are especially interesting here where they not only have their own starting content, but then go to zones that have been completely revamped (Darkshore and Azshara) to continue to progress, and then on from there as well (North Barrens and Ashenvale to Stonetalon and then to Desolace, etc.) All zones that have been quite changed by the Shattering changes.I’ve enjoyed playing the initial content for Goblins and Worgen so far and may level one or the other, even though I have already leveled a few 80s in the past, because the leveling experience now is changed in many areas, at least up until 60.

More about World of Warcraft of Cataclysm Reviews:

Azeroth sure is a crowded place. It seems everywhere you turn there’s a nearly immortal creature under the sway of an ancient, horrible tentacle god from below our feet or a malevolent, cosmic demon lord from beyond the stars. Once again, the world’s many mortal heroes will lace up their (now green) boots and start the process of vanquishing evil one boss at a time. Is it worth the trek over the ruined yet familiar landscapes of WoW yore? You bet, and then some.

The theme of Cataclysm is change. Being six years old, World of Warcraft has clout. It has established memes, fondly remembered zones, questlines, characters and inside jokes. The latest expansion fully exploits this and works hard to get its dedicated fans into a nostalgia fumigated frenzy. Recall that one guy you may have once rescued from an Orc cave in Redridge Mountains five years ago? Now he’s your best friend and shameless Rambo reference for an epic questline. Do you remember Old Blanchy? I have bad news for you. Thankfully someone’s on the case. Just like Deathwing himself tearing out from under the earth to settle unfinished business, WoW itself is coming back to these old story threads, old locations and old enemies to give them the resolution they deserve.

Yes, many of the old zones are redone, changed both physically by the presence of Deathwing and through the updated game design philosophy of Blizzard. Gone are the days of frustrating fetch and kill quests (though they are still present, much less in abundance) and sketchy zone transitions. No more with the harsh, slow trekking that served only as a timesink in the past. Leveling, talent trees, riding skills, character skills, etc have all been streamlined to allow more of what players actually like to do: progress their character in a fun and entertaining way so that by the time they reach max level, they might actually miss the high quality questing they’d been doing.

As with every expansion, class mechanic revisions and new spells have essentially made World of Warcraft a new game all over again. Guild levels, perks, and achievements will help solidify a real community experience within the game, which is good, because you’ll need a tightly knit group to survive some of the game’s PvE challenges. Having played many heroics and a few raid encounters in the beta, I am happy to say that Blizzard has really gone to great lengths to challenge veterans and cajole newcomers into learning the ropes at the same time. Epics are harder to attain and give a greater sense of accomplishment than with WotLK, and heroic mode bosses right from the first tier of content add a further degree of satisfaction for die-hards.

Alongside this are the tried and true profession updates, including Archeology, a new secondary profession that unlocks bonus items. Two brand new races, the Worgen and the Goblins, are available for the Alliance and Horde respectively. Thousands of new items, five new zones, hundreds of new, engaging quests, brand new music for almost every area, and the same Blizzard spit and polish we’ve known for years ensure any MMO fan’s dedication to the cause of saving Azeroth from certain destruction. So get cracking, guys. The Aspect of Death is not in the business of vanquishing himself.

An ancient evil lies dormant within Deepholm, the domain of earth in the Elemental Plane. Hidden away in a secluded sanctuary, the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing has waited, recovering from the wounds of his last battle against Azeroth and biding his time until he can reforge the world in molten fire.

It seems to me, as someone who never experienced any of these phenomenon first-hand, that slapping a Japanese name + battling + monsters of some kind + toys + video game = Big Success.  The order in which these events may differ, with some starting off with the game and others with the TV show, etc., but in general, kids eat this stuff up.

More details can view Bakugan (video game) from Wikipedia.

Gateway Refurbished Laptop Computers can Buy?

Do what do you think? Is buying a refurbished a good deal or a waste of money? Let me know what you think and what your experiences with refubished units has been.

Review 1,

Well all I buy is refurbished computers, why? They are cheaper and I have not had one fail on me yet. Actually gateway sells it’s refurbished desktops and laptops on ebay with huge discounts of retail and their website prices. Same units for hundreds less. And they offer the same extended warranty 3 years for $149.99 or less on any refurb desktop. I know because I bought a gateway desktop off ebay for $799.99 and it sells on gateway website for $1349.99. and the warranty for 3 years is only $129.99 and it comes with 1 year warranty even if I dont’ buy the extended. Can’t go wrong with refurbs, they are same quality only cost less.

gateway refurbished laptop computers

Review 2,

I bought a gateway mx6440 refurbished laptop about five months ago for $700 from tiger direct and it is pretty much usless now. Just through normal wear and tear here are the things that went wrong, in chonoligical order.

1. DVD RW drive door kept popping open by itself and quit working entirely after two months. A few keys popped off the keyboard also.

2. Hinges became loose and the screen is completely detached from the rest of the computer and only connected by two little wires. This happened after four months.

3. Power supply began to get extremely hot and failed after five months.

I understand the computer was refurbished but I expected to last longer then five months. Next time I am buying new with a warranty.

Before coming back to the benefits of buying the refurbished Gateway is ok, let us see the problems associated with the two other methods associated with buying a laptop.

If you are really rich, you can go and buy the Gateway straightaway. You will get all the features including the warranty period as well as tech and customer support through phone, email, and chat.

If you are considering going for a used computer, you will be at loss. Used laptops will create problems frequently. You do not know what exactly you have purchased as the minute details are not shown properly for used laptops. For example, you will not be given the exact battery life and you will not be told how much was the laptop used. It is better to drop the idea of going for a used laptop.

You can send your idea about gateway refurbished laptop computers whether can buy as comments here too, Thanks.

How to Clean Gateway Laptop Heatsink

My girlfriend have one Gateway laptop and someday she ask me to help her cleaning her gateway laptop heatsink, how to clean gateway laptop heatsink? It’s not rocket science , so you can do it yourself as me too.

how to clean gateway laptop heatsink

It is very dangerous to let the laptop overheat, as it could end up frying your CPU and even motherboard, so the damage is significat. That is why you should maintain the heatsink operable at all times. It keeps the place around the laptop processor cool and working properly. Sometimes the heatsink gets covered in dust and other small cloggs that are brought in by the fan from the surrounding environment and this prevents it from doing its job as usual. that is why we should clean it from time to time, especially if we live in a place that is a bit dustier and circulated.

Here are some indications about how to clean the Gateway laptop heatsink. It’s not rocket science , so you can do it yourself. Especially if you know how to disassemble a laptop, it will be really easy for you to do this. You only have to know the location of the heatsink and the CPU fan and this is usually placed in the upper left corner in Gateway computers. Any way, if you want to know for sure, you can check the user’s manual. Or you can start removing all the components that cover the heatsink and get to it directly in action. Of course, first you will have to remove the case cover that is fixed by four screws in the four corners or your laptop. Then take out the keyboard and then you will be able to locate the heatsink.

If you want to know how to clean the Gateway laptop heatsink, you will have to buy a can of compressed air that is very useful and just blow the compressed air on it a few times and that’s it. if you do not have such a device, you can wipe it clean with a soft cloth.Do not use a wet cloth as it will cause a short circuit and also do not forget to remove the battery and all the cables and cords before opening your laptop because otherwise you can risk being shaken by the energy that might have been left inside your laptop and believe me, it’s not a pleasant experience.

Then reassemble everything back in its place and turn the laptop on to see if it works properly. After you finish cleaning the heatsink repeat the operation with the CPU fanin order to remove the dust around it or that gathered at its base, as there’s no use having a perfectly capable heatsink and a dusty and slow CPU fan. Remember that they work together.

This cleaning is usually recommended when your laptop overheats without an obvious reason or shuts down unexpectedly. You will feel the laptop and see that its temperature is high all the time and then you will know it’s time for a heatsink cleaning.

9 Tips For Your iPod Touch Saving Power

The iPod touch uses power accessing the Internet, using Bluetooth devices, and running apps. Keeping these activities to a minimum can help you save power.

The following are tips on saving power while using your iPod touch:

iPod Touch Saving Power

1. Pause. Pause playback when you’re not listening. Pausing (stopping) playback is the easiest way to conserve power.

2. Lock it. Press the Sleep/Wake button on top of the iPod touch to immediately put it to sleep and lock its controls to save battery power. You can set your iPod touch to automatically go to sleep by choosing Settings➪General➪Auto-Lock from the Home screen, and choosing 1 Minute, 2 Minutes, 3 Minutes, 4 Minutes, or 5 Minutes (or Never, to prevent automatic sleep).

3. Back away from the light. Turn down the brightness on an iPod touch by choosing Settings➪Brightness and dragging the brightness slider to the left.

4.  Forget where you are. Turn off Location Services if you aren’t using apps that need it. Choose Settings➪General from the Home screen, and touch On for the Location Services option to turn it off. See Chapter 3 for details.

5.  Let the postman ring twice. Check e-mail less frequently. You may want to change Push and Fetch settings to be less frequent. See Chapter 11 for details.

6. Put a cap on Bluetooth. Turn off Bluetooth (choose Settings➪General➪ Bluetooth and touch the On button to turn it off) if you’re not using a Bluetooth device. (Bluetooth is available only with the iPhone 3 Software
Update.)

7. Stop communicating altogether. Turn off Wi-Fi when not browsing the Internet: Choose Settings➪Wi-Fi and touch the On button to turn it off.

8. Turn it off completely. You can turn the iPod touch completely off by holding down the Sleep/Wake (On/Off) button for about two seconds, until you see the Slide to Power Off slider; then slide your finger across the slider to turn it off. You can then turn it back on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake (On/Off) button.

Keep in mind that starting up an iPod touch that was completely turned off takes quite a bit of power — more than if it woke from sleep. If you do turn it off, plug it into AC power or your computer before turning it back on.

9. You may continue. Play songs continuously without using the iPod touch controls. Selecting songs and using Previous/Rewind and Next/ Fast-Forward require more energy. Also, turn off your iPod touch equalizer (EQ) if you turned it on (see Chapter 7).

Always use the latest iPod touch software and update your software when updates come out. Apple constantly tries to improve how your iPod touch works, and many of these advancements relate to power usage.
